Located in the Eastern Townships region of Québec, the regional county municipality (RCM) of Coaticook was constituted under the 1981 Act pertaining to land use planning and development.
It includes 12 rural municipalities and has a total population of 18,665 inhabitants. With an area of 1,332 square kilometres, it sits in the south central region of the Eastern Townships, of which it makes up approximately 10%. The RCM of Coaticook is bordered by the state of Vermont to the south, New Hampshire on the east, the RCM of Haut-Saint-François and the city of Sherbrooke to the north, and the RCM of Memphremagog to the west. The main access roads to the region are Route 147 in the north-south axis and Route 141 from a westerly to an easterly direction.
